    Bullies

I have to put off our Autism Awarness Celebration for the next couple of days. Most of my Readers know I have recently moved.

I downgraded from a Two Bedroom to a One Bedroom to give my kids a better life. I moved out of the Hood towards the Beach a few months ago. My tween, yes he is only 12, still goes to school in our previous neighborhood. There are gangs and unsupervised hooligans. My son and his friends manage to stay away from them most of the time. My son has a great group of friends and they are wonderful kids.

Lately there has been an uprising of Bullies. These past few months two of my sons friends were beat up for Ipods and Tennis Shoes. They are often picked on for the clothes they wear (Skinny Jeans) and the mix of friends (all races) they hang with.

I am sad to say today afterschool my son was the victim of a Brutal Attack. He was jumped on his way home from School. We just made it home from the ER. My main concern was Brain Injury. He played Quarterback for Pop Warner for many years and has had numerous Cat Scans.

I am thankful he is okay but I am heartbroken he was beaten so badly. Tomorrow I was suppose to spend the day Volunteering in my Autistic Sons Class to jump off Autism Awareness. Instead I will be removing my son from his old school and nursing him back to Health.

It saddens me that anyone would do this to a 12-year-old. I'm so sorry for everything you're going through right now, but you're son is quite a trooper. Sending lots of love!

His physical wounds will more than likely completely heal but the emotional wounds - both his and yours - are the more severe of the two we all know. My prayers are with your entire family as you go through this healing process. I know I should also probably pray for the bullies but my heart is not mature enough for that.

Bullying is always something I worry about for my oldest (with AS). Thankfully the schools here have responded to even the minor bully issues.

Jane, you are a very strong woman and I know you are going to make all the right choices for your family. All of you will pull through this on your strength. I'm glad your son has you to lean on. ((((JANE and son)))))

My husband was reading over my shoulder, and was just aghasted as well.

He works in a personal protection industry. Many of his clients are self defense instructors, and he suggested seeing if you could locate a dojo in your area. It will not only help him learn some defensive moves, but will help to ease the anguish from this incident. Of the instructors he knows, not one of them would turn your son away- money would not be a concern- the safety and well being of your son would.

I'm over from the Princess of Sarcasm. So sorry to hear that happened to your son. My stepsons were once really badly beaten and we spent the next few days doing the same, switching schools and nursing them back to health. Sending my best wishes for his return to good health.

Oh wow, I'm so sorry this has happened to him. As a mother, my heart hurts seeing those pictures of him with his injuries. I'm stunned at how cruel some kids can be towards others...all because they're jealous that they don't have the same material items.

I hope the kids who did this to your son are punished somehow. They need to know that this type of behavior is not acceptable.

Oh Lord, your poor baby! I know he's twelve, but he's probably going on 30, right? So, you moved away from this terrible place right? Lord, I hope so. To tell you the truth I will prayer for your son, but I will also pray for the ones that did that to him that they will mend the errors of their ways. They will have to answer for what they have done one day & I hope your son knows that as I'm sure he does. If there is a way to take him out of that school DO IT! You can't take this chance anymore. Where is the police, what are they doing about it? {{HUGS}} FOR YOUR SON. I'M following you now, so I'll be back to see how he's doing & you. I shall pray for you as well. Keep your chin up Mom! HAPPY EASTER. A mutual friend, Lluvia told me of your woe & I came to give my support too.

Jane, there is absolutely nothing that can be said to make this comprehensible.

My wishes, thoughts, and prayers are with you.

OMG, I'm in tears for you and your son right now! And to think, I got upset when someone told my daughter her hair and her clothes were ugly and her toys were all junk! No child should have to be bullied, no matter how minor or severe!

This is horrible and should never be tolerated. I pray your son heals (both physically and emotionally) quickly and is able to resume his life without fear.

I am just now seeing this and I am completely horrified!! I hope that you will follow this up with your local authorities because these boys clearly need some sort of intervention. I hope that your son is doing well and that he doesn't let this terrible incident affect his bright future!!

I was just wondering how your son is doing now...my son got hit with a big stick by a six-year old girl on two different occasions. His autism makes him a target of bullying in our neighborhood. Even though he's almost 15, he can no longer leave our yard.

    It's sad, and it sucks.

Jane, I'm sorry to hear something like this could happen to anyone, but especially your children. There are really no good words to express, but I send you my well wishes and pray that moving him to a different school will solve the immediate danger.

I will NEVER understand why bullies feel such freedom to inflict such pain. My thoughts are with you all. May you all rise from this stronger than ever.

this is absolutely horrible. I hope that he is doing better. My son has been bullied a bit the past few years (thankfully it appears to have stopped) - such a senseless, cowardly act - I bet you felt like going out there and kicking their a$$es yourself

That is awful! Poor thing, poor momma! Those children are doing this now, just think what they'll be doing when they get older. I'm so glad you were able to move away from the area & appaud you for pulling him out of school. Hugs!

It breaks my heart to see such a handsome young man injured so badly. Thank goodness it wasn't worse, but this sort of thing should never happen to our babies. Sending you lots of hugs.

I just found your blog from Princess of Sarcasm's post. I am so sorry to hear about your son (who is gorgeous by the way, bruised face or not). I was a teacher in a former life and we had to constantly deal with bullying. Thank you for bringing the issue to light. I hope parents of bullies read this and have family discussions that are a long time in coming.

I hope that the transition to the new school goes smoothly.

I am so sorry for what your son has gone through! I cant believe that kids act this way and their parents allow it! I have two boys of my own and I pray for your family and mine that this NEVER happens again!! I will keep you in my prayers!

I am so sorry that happened to your family! I cannot imagine the anger and fear you must be feeling. Before seeing your post, I was really upset about a bully pushing my son down in the locker room and calling him fat.

What is wrong with some children?
I pray that he continues to heal and this attack won't change his life for the worse.

    Anonymous said...

Just awful - so glad you are able to pull him out of that environment and begin the healing process!
