    Open Adoption Roundtable #22

"What are you hopes or commitments to
    Open Adoption in 2011?"
I'm committed to going home this year,
    and volunteering.

    Open Adoption Blogs

In cases where the people involved are responsible, and the safety of the child is not in question, I encourage and support Open Adoption. I believe that my story is living proof of the importance of Open Adoption. My parents are very special people.

My hopes and commitments for Open adoption is to visit and volunteer at Orphanages during my trip home this year. I am hoping that my research now will allow me to speak to the correct officials in my homeland. I want to encourage policies be put into place allowing Adoptive Parents to bring adopted children back to visit without fearing for their safety.

I will also be doing some Volunteer work at the Komo Centre for Autistic Children. I am 42 years old and my Adoption is still touching and uplifting others. In my personal case, I feel, If I wasn't raised knowing who I am and where I came from I would not be able to reach out to others in need. I thank my Birth Mother, My Parents and the Peace Corps for having the maturity to all work together to raise me.

I think it is wonderful when the adoption can be open and the child can see their life so full of people who love them all the way around. But I can also get why in some cases that would be a definite nono
